What is The Progressive Bitcoiner?

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to giving a voice to the individuals and communities who have used bitcoin to foster positive changes for personal, social and environmental issues. Launched as a podcast in December of 2021, The Progressive Bitcoiner has grown into a movement.

Our Goals

Adoption

To increase bitcoin adoption by appealing to a mainstream audience which includes progressives seeking more information about bitcoin, but feel they have nowhere for answers that speak to their values.

Diversity

To increase the diversity of content available in bitcoin education and who it targets, especially the podcast space, which largely leans more libertarian and conservative.

Content

To produce content that showcases great stories and conversations centered around social justice, economic empowerment, environmental issues, and other progressive values.

Our Team

Trey Walsh | Executive Director

Trey Walsh is a fervent progressive and Bitcoin advocate, with an extensive background in the nonprofit sector, leading initiatives aimed at workforce development and poverty alleviation. His journey into the world of Bitcoin was sparked by its potential to advance human rights and social justice. Over the past three years, Trey has been a vocal proponent for broadening Bitcoin's appeal, especially among progressives and left-leaning independents who may be hesitant, uncertain, or skeptical about its benefits due to historical narratives. Through his work, Trey has contributed numerous articles to publications like Bitcoin Magazine and has been a featured guest on various podcasts. In these appearances, he delves into the cultural and social dimensions of Bitcoin, explores its intersection with politics, and champions its capacity to inspire hope. Trey is dedicated to spreading the message that Bitcoin transcends geographical and socioeconomic barriers, making it a truly universal tool poised to empower those facing the greatest challenges.
